Murdo has slammed the latest A & E waiting time figures for Fife, describing them as a “damning indictment” of the SNP’s mismanagement of the health service.
The latest statistics showed that only 65% of patients were seen across Scotland within the SNP’s target time of four hours. They have not met this target since July 2020.
In Fife, only 59.7% of A & E patients were seen within the target of four hours (in the week ending August 21). The figure for the week ending August 14 was even worse – 54.3%.
Murdo says rather than finally accepting that NHS Fife is in for a challenging winter, Health Minister Humza Yousaf should urgently rewrite his flimsy NHS Recovery Plan and stop the suffering for heroic frontline staff and patients in the Kingdom.
Commenting, Murdo Fraser MSP said: “The waits at the A&E department in Fife continue to be completely unacceptable.
“The buck for these lengthy waits stops with SNP Health Minister Humza Yousaf. These delays are a damning indictment of his party’s mismanagement of the NHS over the years, even prior to the pandemic.”
Murdo continued: “Our heroic frontline staff and suffering patients deserve far better from the SNP and if we are to avoid a total crisis in winter, Humza Yousaf must urgently rewrite his NHS Recovery Plan.
“It simply hasn’t delivered for patients and staff in Fife.”
