Murdo is searching for a ‘local hero’ among communities in Mid Scotland and Fife to mark the 25th celebration of the opening of the Scottish Parliament.
Every member of the Scottish Parliament is being asked to nominate one of their constituents who have made an extraordinary contribution to their communities - their local hero. They will be invited to attend the event on the Saturday, June 29, alongside their MSP.
The event will mark almost 25 years to the day since the Scottish Parliament was officially opened on July 1, 1999. Taking place in the Debating Chamber, the day will mark the achievements of the Parliament over the last 25 years as well as being a celebration of Scottish culture.
Commenting, Murdo said: “The Local Hero event is a great opportunity for MSPs to meet residents who have made a contribution to their community and, for those who are nominated, it provides a day to remember for them and their family. This year’s event will be very special, marking 25 years of the opening of the Scottish Parliament.
“I know there will be many residents who know of someone who fits the bill of Local Hero so I would recommend they nominate them.”
Local Heroes have taken part in the opening ceremonies of the Scottish Parliament in 2007, 2011, 2016 and 2021.
