Murdo is seeking a meeting with Stagecoach to ask them if they can expand their bus service to residents living in Bertha Park, Perth.
He has written to the bus company after being contacted by a number of constituents who are not happy with the present bus service to Bertha Park.
Commenting, Murdo said: “Several constituents contacted me about the bus service (Service 4) run by Stagecoach which currently serves Bertha Park. My understanding is that there is presently an hourly service throughout the day to and from Perth Bus Station but this ceases, with the last bus being at 6.40pm from the Bus Station in Perth, and there are no services later in the evening.
“I am very concerned at the present situation regarding the bus service for people living in Bertha Park. It is a growing community, and the lack of a bus service into the evenings is a major constraint on the ability of people locally to access services in the centre of town, including leisure and recreation.
“As the population of Bertha Park expands, there will be a growing demand for bus travel. There is also an inconvenience in that there is a single bus service serving Bertha Park, which means that for children who are trying to access schooling other than at Bertha Park High School this involves a lengthy journey, with a bus into the centre of town and a second one out to Perth Academy or Perth High School.
“Such is my concern, that I decided to write to Stagecoach with the aim of discussing what might be done by Stagecoach to expand the buses serving the Bertha Park community.”
