Murdo welcomed the announcement that Stagecoach has decided to merge with DWS Infrastructure.
The politician was reacting to the news that will see the transport company retain their headquarters in Perth.
Commenting, Murdo Fraser said: “I welcome this announcement of a merger between Stagecoach and DWS Infrastructure. I’m sure it will be met with great relief by the Perth employees of Stagecoach.
“The alternative offer from National Express would have seen Stagecoach lose its HQ in Perth, and that would have been a great loss for the city and the people of Perth. Stagecoach has strong ties and a long association with Perth, and they recently opened a new customer service centre there.”
Murdo added: “It was also reassuring to hear Stagecoach say this merger will bring new opportunities for its 23,000 strong workforce, including those who work in Perth.”
