Murdo’s campaign to lead the Scottish Conservatives has received another boost with the backing of Donald Cameron, Baron Cameron of Locheil.
Lord Cameron represented the Highlands & Islands in the Scottish Parliament from 2016 to 2024. Earlier this year he was elevated to the House of Lords and became a Minister in the UK Government. A lawyer by training, he is Chief of Clan Cameron.
Lord Cameron said: “I will be voting for Murdo Fraser in the leadership election. Right now, we need a seasoned and accomplished leader who can hold this failing SNP Government to account.
“Murdo has the breadth of experience and, most importantly, will promote a positive vision.
“The 2026 election and its aftermath will be challenging but also full of opportunity. There’s all to play for. I hope Murdo Fraser is the person who leads the Party in that exciting endeavour.”
Responding, Murdo commented: “There are few figures in Scottish politics as respected as Donald Cameron, and I am delighted to get his support to join the many other colleagues and senior figures who are backing me.
“The events of the last few days show, more than ever, that this Party needs real change. That is exactly what I will deliver, and more and more of our members are seeing that.”
