Murdo has expressed concern at a rise in racist incidents in schools in Fife.
He was reacting to data on the number of racist incidents in the schools, which revealed they had risen from 2 in the 2018/19 financial year to 33 in the 2022/23 one.
Figures supplied to the Scottish Conservatives through Freedom of Information also show that the number of violent incidents in Fife schools has risen from 1,137 in 2018/19 to 1,864 in 2022/23.
Commenting, Murdo Fraser MSP said: βI find the rise in racist incidents in Fife schools very concerning indeed. Schools must have a zero tolerance approach to racist incidents β there is absolutely no need for this sort of behaviour in our schools and it must be stamped out.
βTo increase from 2 racist incidents in the 2018/19 financial year to 33 in 2022/23 is shocking. I hope measures will be taken to address this alarming issue.β
The data supplied to the Scottish Conservatives was from August 15, 2018 to February 28 this year.
