Murdo has said the A&E crisis in Fife appears to be “never-ending.”
He was reacting to the latest figures for the A&E weekly waiting times, which show that only 68.1% of patients in Scotland were seen within the SNP’s waiting time target of four hours.
This was worse than the previous week of 69.2%.
The SNP have not met their target of 95% of patients to be seen within four hours in almost two years.
In Fife, only 63% were seen within four hours (for the week ending June 19) at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy. This was worse than the previous weeks’ figures of 69.8% (for the week ending June 12).
Commenting, Murdo Fraser MSP said: “A&E waiting times in Fife remain utterly appalling, with no end in sight.
“It’s completely unacceptable that so many patients in Fife are waiting well over four hours to be seen. We know this leads to tragic and unnecessary deaths.
“Health Minister Humza Yousaf needs to get a grip of this chaos to stop the suffering being experienced by patients and ease the intolerable pressure on our heroic frontline staff in Fife.
“Those staff are doing their very best but are not being supported by the SNP Health Secretary who is missing in action.”
Murdo continued: “It can never be accepted that week after week waiting time targets in A&E in Fife are missed by such a wide margin.
“I will continue to pressure Humza Yousaf to deliver a proper recovery plan for Fife to ensure patients are seen as quickly as possible when arriving at A&E.”
